- Schedule an appointment—A parent-teacher conference is not the only time when parents and teachers should make contact. Parents, please feel free to contact me regarding your child. I am available until 2:30 Monday - Thursday for a face-to-face conference, however I am also available for a phone conference. Please contact me so we can set up the most convienient conference.
- When should you contact Me? There may be times during the school year when you'll want to speak with me. Don't wait for a scheduled conference if you have concerns. Contact me directly and promptly when you have concerns.
- Here are some examples of when you might want to get in touch with me:
- If you see a dramatic change in behavior (such as when an outgoing child becomes withdrawn)
- If your child is having trouble academically or socially
- If your child's grades drop suddenly
- If your child never seems to have homework
- If you are going through changes at home that may be affecting your child, such as a divorce, a new marriage, a death, a new baby, or a serious illness in the family
- If your child is going to be out of school for more than a few days
- If you and your child needs clarification about a project or an assignment
If you are requesting a face-to-face meeting with me:- Please tell me beforehand what you'd like to discuss. This will allow me to prepare for the meeting.
- If writing a note or an email or leaving a voice message, be sure not to include confidential information. It could be read or heard by somebody other than me.
- Keep your note or voice message brief and to the point. This is especially important if you are upset about something that happened at school. An angry note or message could lead to misunderstandings.
